For all you ostreaphiles out there, the NYC Oyster Lovers Meetup Club will be meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 30th at 7 pm! This is a great way to explore oysters and meet fellow bivalve fanatics. Chef Ryan Schmidtberger at Lure Fish Bar (142 Mercer St in Soho) has created a fantastic oyster-themed menu with selections from both coasts. The oysters are subject to availability, but assuming all goes well, you’ll be able to try one of the rare Belon oysters, which author Rowan Jacobsen has called “the most intense, overwhelming, unforgettable food you are likely to eat anytime soon.” The event is capped at 25 people, so if you are interested, don’t wait to sign up! You must be a member of Meetup to RSVP for this; no +1s are allowed. The cost of the dinner will be $40 plus tax and tip; here’s the proposed menu:
