Barramundi is a type of sea bass found off the coasts of Northern Australia and Southeast Asia. It has a mild, buttery flavor with a hint of sweetness and a dense meaty texture, suitable for pan frying, baking, stews, grilling and more. Barramundi is a good source of lean protein and boasts the highest omega-3 levels of any common white fish, with just half the calories of salmon. Each fillet is approximately 8 oz, a hearty serving for one person, and the fillets come individually frozen and vacuum sealed, so you only have to defrost as many portions as you need. Try barramundi out with your favorite white fish recipe!
This barramundi is rated “Best Choice” by Monterey Bay Aquarium, and is featured in Paul Greenberg’s book Four Fish. In fact, Australis is the first and only marine fish farm with a green rating. To find out more about how the aquaculture process works, check out The Better Fish.
